Flooding in March, 2011

Interview with Captain Instructor Jim St. Clair

Jim St. Clair's fascination with being on the water spans three decades as a sports fisherman, but in recent years he has taken a more deliberate track by teaching boating safety courses for both the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, and the state of Maryland.

Jim is active in teaching Maryland Boating Safety at local community colleges, marinas on the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland regional parks, and at boating centers such as West Marine in the Washington D.C. area for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Police in Annapolis, Maryland.

Jim holds a current near costal OUPV (6-Pac) marine Captain's license and is quite active with boating both on the Chesapeake Bay and in the Florida Keys. He is also an active member of the Chesapeake Area Professional Captain's Association (CAPCA), and currently lives in Washington D.C. where he is very active in patrolling on the Chesapeake Bay for the United States Coast Guard. Any leisure time is spent on his back country boat fishing in the Florida Keys.
